Jane Austen Tells Her Story on Joebar's Talk Show

Jane Austen is one of the most widely read, beloved, and important writers in English literature, so the audience was excited to hear her talk about her life and work.

She shared that she was never really popular for her novels in her time, since her works were published anonymously. Then Joebar told the audience that actually Jane's brother Henry and sister Cassandra published her last two novels - Persuasion and Northanger Abbey - with a biographical note that revealed that she was the author of all those brilliant novels. That was definitely a feel good moment!

About her passion for literature, Jane Austen shared that she was incredibly lucky to have a father who gave her and her siblings complete access to his library. That turned out to be where most of her education had come from. She also said that her father even provided them with expensive paper and writing materials! We should all be thankful to him for that.

Another interesting thing that got everyone listening, was the conversation about marriage. Miss Austen shared that she never got married, because she believed that people should only get married if there is affection between them. There had been a man she wanted to marry, but her parents interfered and they never saw each other again. Her next marriage proposal had come from a man with whom she would have been financially comfortable, but she felt no particular affection for. Joebar noted that this scenario sounded very familiar. He said he recognized that theme from Pride and Prejudice! And Miss Austen couldn't agree more. But she didn't confirm whether Lizzy was modeled after her. Oh well, some things are destined to remain a secret forever...

How interesting, huh?
It is so good that Joebar's guests open up to him and share such private thoughts...
I can't wait to see what's in store for next week!
